TMS for Smoking Cessation

Deep TMS as an aid for adult smoking cessation

Service Overview

Deep TMS for Smoking Cessation

BrainsWay Deep TMS is FDA cleared as an aid for short-term smoking cessation in adults. It was the first FDA clearance in the addiction space for any TMS device.

The treatment uses BrainsWay's H4 coil to stimulate brain circuits associated with addiction, including the bilateral insula and prefrontal cortex. We review smoking history, prior quit attempts, and goals before recommending it.

Deep TMS is non-invasive, does not require anesthesia or significant recovery time, and does not have the systemic effects associated with some medications. Some people may have local discomfort or headache.
